Hi there, hope you're having a great Friday!
This is Colm and Simon from CommerceGurus, with a handpicked weekly roundup of eCommerce articles.
PS: Our Community Survey is still open - it takes just five minutes to tell us what to build next!
This new guide from Shopify looks at seven real examples, showing how brands use wording, placement, colour, and context to make CTAs more effective.
Masienda pairs its email signup with a 10% first-order discount, Fishwife uses "Pick Your Favorites" to lead shoppers into building a custom bundle, while Slip offers both "Add To Bag" and "Get it Today" to cater for online and local purchasing.
Craighill uses the playful "Deal yourself in" to sell a playing card case, while Graza deliberately experiments with CTAs that blend into its creative rather than always demanding attention.
The examples show there's plenty of room to go beyond "Shop Now" or "Buy Now", provided the next action remains clear.

WordPress 7.1 is set to introduce one of the most requested features for the Block Editor: responsive styling controls.
It lets you apply different typography, spacing, colours, dimensions, and layout settings for desktop, tablet, and mobile directly inside the editor, without writing custom CSS or media queries.
Everything is visual, with live previews, making responsive design much more approachable.
This is a significant step forward for block themes and page building in WordPress.
Instead of creating one design that has to work everywhere, you'll be able to fine-tune individual blocks for different devices from within the editor itself.
It should make creating polished, mobile-friendly layouts much faster and reduce the need for custom responsive CSS.

In this behind-the-scenes article, Ryan Law explains how the Ahrefs content team has transformed its editorial workflow using Claude Code.
Instead of relying on a single prompt, they've broken their writing process into 23 reusable AI skills that handle everything from keyword research and competitor analysis to outlining, drafting, fact-checking, and formatting.
The result is a system that can produce a near publish-ready article in 6–12 minutes, while still following the same editorial standards the team developed over many years.
One of the most interesting ideas is treating content creation like software engineering. Every stage outputs its own file, making it easy to review, improve, or rerun individual steps rather than starting over.
It's a fascinating look at how experienced content teams are using AI.

Human Made has shared an impressive look at what an AI-native future for WordPress could look like.
The demo shows a fully AI-generated website that continuously A/B tests itself, automatically creating and testing different versions of page sections to improve conversions.
As visitors interact with the site, more traffic is sent to the better-performing variations until a clear winner emerges, which then becomes the new baseline for future experiments.
What's interesting is that this isn't a website builder. The pages are built using native Gutenberg blocks, so everything remains editable inside WordPress.
Combined with Human Made's Accelerate plugin for analytics and A/B testing, the AI can continually refine headlines, layouts, and content while you focus on your business.
