Hi there, hope you're having a great Friday!

This is Colm and Simon from CommerceGurus, with a handpicked weekly roundup of eCommerce articles.

16 Actionable eCommerce Conversion Rate Optimization Tips

Baymard describes eCommerce CRO as improving your store so more visitors actually complete a purchase - but the real opportunity lies in fixing common usability issues across the shopping journey.

Their research shows many stores lose sales because shoppers struggle with things like unclear product pages, confusing navigation, or complicated checkout flows.

Some practical improvements they highlight include making product pages clearer with better images and detailed information, simplifying navigation so shoppers can find products faster, reducing friction on the checkout page (e.g. offering guest checkout and reducing required form fields), and making pricing, shipping costs, and return policies easy to understand.

Small UX improvements like these can significantly increase conversions without needing more traffic.

When Big Brands Enter WooCommerce

This excellent article, written by Rodolfo from Business Bloomer explores what happens when large, established brands enter the WooCommerce ecosystem.

Brand recognition alone isn’t enough to guarantee success however. WooCommerce merchants expect performance, reliability, compatibility, and long-term support.

Big companies that underestimate Woo’s technical complexity or community dynamics risk damaging their reputation quickly.

Real success requires validating demand, understanding merchant pain points, engaging with developers and agencies, and earning trust through quality and consistency rather than marketing alone.

10 World-Class Copywriting Examples + Formulas for 2026

In this article from Drip, they share 10 standout copywriting examples that eCommerce brands can learn from.

High-performing copy isn’t about clever wording alone - it’s about deeply understanding the audience, addressing objections, and guiding readers naturally toward a purchase.

Brands like BarkBox demonstrate sharp audience targeting and voice consistency, while Poo-Pourri shows how humor and personality can transform even a FAQ page into a conversion tool.

Other examples highlight the power of strong headlines, clear value propositions, social proof, and storytelling.

Great copy reduces friction, builds trust, and makes the desired action feel obvious.

ChatGPT Has 12% of Google’s Search Volume but Google Sends 190x More Traffic

Recent research shows that ChatGPT now handles around 12% of the daily query volume that Google processes when considering searches traditionally done on a search engine.

However, the two platforms play very different roles: Google’s search engine still sends about 190 times more traffic to websites and has a much higher click-through rate than ChatGPT.

While ChatGPT keeps users within its conversational interface, limiting outbound clicks, Google continues to be the dominant driver of referral traffic to sites.

The Story of Wall Street Raider

This is a fascinating story behind Wall Street Raider, a complex financial simulation game, which traces its origins to the late 1960s when Michael D. Jenkins began designing an ultra-detailed corporate finance simulator that he later coded himself in the 1980s.

Built over decades and spanning more than 100,000 lines of PowerBASIC, the game earned a cult following for its unmatched realism despite its dated interface and multiple failed attempts by others to modernize it.
