Hi there, hope you're having a great Friday!
This is Colm and Simon from CommerceGurus, with a handpicked weekly roundup of eCommerce articles.
Adding popups to your WordPress site has many benefits, especially if you own an online shop.
From growing a list of email subscribers to generating more sales at your store, popups can benefit your eCommerce business in numerous ways.
The ability to display popups based on cart total, customer status, and user behavior, such as dwell time and exit intent, increases your chances of seeing positive results.
In this new guide from Joe Fylan, we look at a number of free and paid plugins for WordPress which allow you to include popups on your store.

Having great product pages is important for your sales. After all, it’s where people decide to click that buy button.
This post from Yoast describes the basic principles first: Having a great title, a proper and unique product description, an inviting meta description, and an easy-to-remember URL.
It then looks at adding structured data for your products and get rich results. For instance, you could use the Product and Offer Schema, so Google can easily index all the details about your product and show these as rich results in the search results.
In addition, you should make your product pages fast, add user reviews, and enhance your website’s trustworthiness.

I recently saw an interesting Twitter thread from Brian Jackson where he discussed switching to a forms plugin I hadn't come across before.
WS Form comes complete with many features other form builder plugins charge a premium for.
With built-in user variables, you can pre populate the data for logged-in users, saving on typing.
With the Google Drive add-on, you can accept screenshot file uploads. This was one of the main reasons he moved. The files never hit the WordPress media library.
Finally, 100% of his style/design changes were all done via the built-in customizer options. Not a single line of custom CSS was needed.

Rodolfo from Business Bloomer is back with another useful code snippet for certain WooCommerce stores.
In certain cases, you may want to show the name of the current product’s shipping class. This is helpful especially for B2B stores, or when the shipping class name is very descriptive and helps the customer with their shopping choices.
In the product meta section, this code will add another line called “Shipping class”, together with the name of the class.

I enjoyed this article by Dave Rupert on the (relatively) new focus-visible property and how it can really enhance the usability of websites for people who navigate primarily via the keyboard.
Focus states are one of the areas of accessibility that are easy to neglect when you don’t use your keyboard to navigate everyday.
We have done quite a lot of work with our Shoptimizer WooCommerce theme in this area - try opening the demo site and navigating around by pressing the TAB key to see it in action.
