Hi there, hope you're having a great Friday!
This is Colm and Simon from CommerceGurus, with a handpicked weekly roundup of eCommerce articles.
In his latest article for our blog, Joe Fylan explores the concept of shoppable videos with lots of interesting examples.
By embedding interactive elements like 'Buy Now' buttons within user-generated video reels, stores can increase engagement and sales.
Major brands, including Ralph Lauren, have seen increased click-through rates and engagement by leveraging these.
The benefits of shoppable videos extend beyond convenience — they create an immersive experience that traditional PDPs cannot match.
Interactive elements keep customers engaged longer, while businesses gain valuable insights into consumer behavior through click tracking and analytics.

The excellent article from Oddit discusses the importance of optimizing homepage headers to boost engagement and sales and includes some great before/after screenshots to illustrate their points.
It suggest five key strategies:
- Make actions stand out by using distinct CTAs, social proof, high-quality images, and effective button text.
- Balance vibrant colors with white or black space, simplify content, and ensure key actions are easily accessible on mobile.
- Use descriptive buttons that communicate more about your brand.
- Avoid clutter by focusing on one or two key messages, and displaying social proof.
- Showcase customer reviews or units sold, separate copy from visuals and highlight key product traits.

It includes the ability to track multiple competitors and analyze trends over time. The demo video on the Optic homepage is well worth watching for an overview of what this app does.

Rodolfo from Business Bloomer encountered a challenge while preparing his WooCommerce shop for Black Friday.
He wanted to direct customers to a Shop page displaying only sale items but discovered that WooCommerce doesn’t include a built-in option to sort items by “on sale.”
So he developed a way to add a “Sort by On Sale” option to the Shop page sorting dropdown.
With this enhancement, WooCommerce store owners can easily highlight sale items using a simple code snippet or by appending the “orderby=on_sale” parameter to their Shop page URL.
