Hi there, hope you're having a great Friday!
This is Colm and Simon from CommerceGurus, with a handpicked weekly roundup of eCommerce articles.
Baymard has an important article about product pages and how it was often observed to be a pivotal point in the user journey.
The lack of sufficient product information would cause other users to abandon the page and sometimes, even, the store itself.
This excellent article discusses:
- How insufficient product descriptions can lead to users abandoning products.
- What basic information to consider providing in product descriptions.
- How thorough descriptions can support product images.
In WooCommerce it's easy to add an additional tab of content to your product pages. Our guide shows how.

We've previously written about this topic also, but this article by Sia Karamalegos provides some useful additional information.
Render-blocking resources are a common hurdle to rendering your page faster. They impact your Web Vitals which now impact your SEO. Slow render times also frustrate your users and can cause them to abandon your page.
The key metric to try and reach is a First Contentful Paint (FCP) in less than 1.8 seconds.
Lighthouse and the Coverage tool can help you identify this issue and evaluate what your best options are.

During his talk at Webexpo Prague 2021, Harry Roberts, a web performance consultant and front-end engineer, introduced a little helper that helps him spot common performance bottlenecks easily.
And that is mostly related to the order of how assets are loaded in the head.
Harry has put all the insights he’s learned from his performance work, and the tool exposes some of the issues that often result from a suboptimal arrangement of head tags.
You can see the presentation given in Prague for more context, and the snippet is available here.
