Hi there, hope you're having a great Friday!
This is Colm and Simon from CommerceGurus, with a handpicked weekly roundup of eCommerce articles.
Sales promotions are a key part of running an eCommerce store. When done right, they’re highly effective at generating more transactions.
In this post Joe Fylan looks at effective eCommerce sales promotions for you to consider with examples from popular DTC stores.
These include Welcome Offers, Early Access Deals, Flash Sales, Buy More, Save More, Upselling and Cross-Selling, Referral Programs, Incentivized Discounts, and many more.

Nick Kolenda is back with another eCommerce tactic and in this, he suggests that customers prefer visual options in early stages of choice.
So including a visual representation of your key categories on your homepage might be an excellent way to introduce what you offer to prospective customers.
I did something similar when building my PopShop demo site, a showcase for a new Popups plugin we have been working in. It is, of course, built with Shoptimizer.

Don’t leave marketing dollars on the table by accidentally having emails land in spam. Follow these steps to prepare for Google and Yahoo’s new sender requirements going into effect in February 2024.
This impacts everyone, especially eCommerce stores which send frequent marketing emails to customers.
If these new requirements aren’t met, you'll start experiencing deliverability issues with emails sent to Google and Yahoo email addresses.

There are many “custom taxonomies” that are registered in WooCommerce. However they don’t seem to have their own archive, because it’s been decided they were not useful.
One of these are shipping classes.
You may have configured your shipping to assign certain products to be, for example "bulky", or "free shipping".
With this code snippet from Business Bloomer you can create an archive page of all products assigned to a particular shipping class.

Shoptimizer and CommerceKit Update!
We released a pretty big Shoptimizer and CommerceKit update this week with some often-requested new options and features.
Here are the highlights:
- You can now display a 2-column catalog grid on mobile when CommerceKit's swatches are enabled. This is long awaited.
- There's a brand new 'Lightning Fast Search' option within CommerceKit's Ajax Search module.
- We put a lot of work into ensuring that our Ajax Search suggestions are compatible with the WPML plugin.
- There's a new product gallery display option on mobile called "Show edge of next slide". With the next slide peeking through, it's a great way to encourage customers to keep swiping.
