Hi there, hope you're having a great Friday!

This is Colm and Simon from CommerceGurus, with a handpicked weekly roundup of eCommerce articles.

Why Static Product Pages Are Killing Your Conversion Rates

The days when a static product page consisting of a selection of professionally posed, shot, and edited photos alongside expertly crafted copy were optimal are long gone.

Those types of product pages are simply no longer converting as well as they used to. Instead, shoppers are looking for better insight into your products. They want more relatable and interactive content in a range of formats.

Social media and the rise of the short-form video format have changed the way customers engage online. Many eCommerce store owners have so far failed to embrace the dynamism and interactivity that customers now expect. If you fall into that category, now is the time to change course.

In this guide, we’ll cover how to make your product pages more dynamic so that they connect better with your target audience and ultimately boost your conversion rates.

You’ll also find examples of stores that have successfully made their product pages more dynamic - perfect to learn from!

Oddit's Mobile Navigation Before and After

Mobile navigation

Oddit has emphasized (using Hyer as an example) how bad mobile menu design can be a major conversion killer, especially when important navigation elements are hidden or difficult to discover.

Firstly, they add the search input field within the navigation bar with excellent placeholder text, "What are you looking for today?".

By surfacing the main navigation categories, such as New Arrivals, Men, and Women (and de-emphazing the rest) it makes it easier to direct customers towards the key landing pages.

A big bright "Shop all Boots" button gives further direction to visitors.

Thoughtful, accessible navigation can dramatically improve user flow and, ultimately, conversion rates.

FreeScout GPT Assistant

FreeScout is a free, open-source help desk and shared inbox solution designed for small teams looking to manage customer support via email more efficiently.

The FreeScout GPT Assistant is a really smart Chrome extension that integrates OpenAI’s GPT models directly into the FreeScout interface, enabling support agents to automatically generate draft replies to customer messages.

Created by Jack Arturo, the tool adds a simple GPT-powered assistant button within each conversation, helping teams craft more accurate and faster responses.

This is particularly useful for reducing response times and maintaining consistency in tone and messaging across the support team.

How I "Steal" Design Like a Pro

In this video, Ran from Flux Academy breaks down how top designers “borrow” ideas - using them as a foundation to build something new, original, and creative rather than copying outright.

he focus is on understanding the underlying principles in existing work, such as layout patterns, typography combinations, or interaction techniques, and recombining or reimagining them to craft unique solutions.

The presentation also outlines a practical process: analyze inspiring designs, extract fundamental elements and rationale, iterate and remix them, then infuse your own voice or brand identity.

The goal is not mimicry, but inspiration and transformation.

I particularly liked his use of FreePik's AI functionality to create an animated hero video for his shoe homepage (at the 6 minute mark).

$100M Leads: How to Get Strangers To Want To Buy Your Stuff

$100M Leads” by Alex Hormozi is a practical guide on how to get more leads for your business.

He breaks down his favorite methods for attracting attention, building interest, and turning that into paying customers. He shares real examples, clear frameworks, and makes the whole idea of lead generation feel a lot more doable, especially for solo founders.

I’ve seen a bunch of people building SaaS apps recommend this book lately. It keeps popping up in founder threads and indie hacker chats as a valuable read for learning how to get users through the door.
