This was one of the most informative tutorials I've ever seen on the WordPress block editor, and how to code custom layouts with it.
Brian Coords recorded it as a response to Kevin Geary's: "I Tried Building a Layout With the WordPress Block Editor & It Didn't Go Well".
In it, he builds the demo layout using core blocks and a few lines of CSS and discusses alignments and widths, semantic elements, flexbox tools for layout, and custom CSS.
He also wrote a blog post on the result and embedded the final result within it, which is easy to do if you're using blocks.
