Hi there, hope you're having a great Friday!

This is Colm and Simon from CommerceGurus, with a handpicked weekly roundup of eCommerce articles.

Elementor Editor V4 - CSS-First Changes Everything

Elementor is introducing a significant and exciting transformation with Editor V4, shifting to a CSS-first styling system.

This change aims to bring structure and consistency to web design by leveraging core CSS principles.

The new approach moves away from widget-specific styling, allowing for reusable foundations that apply across an entire website.

Designers can now work with site-wide styling rules, setting logic once and reusing it wherever needed.

For instance, assigning a class to buttons can control visual properties like background color, font, and border radius, with any changes to the class updating all connected buttons instantly.

This is a really exciting evolution for Elementor. There will certainly be a learning curve, but the long-term benefits are enormous.

Imran from Web Squadron also has an interesting deep-dive video of the V4 editor in action. Note that this is still very much at the alpha stage, so it is not suitable just yet for any live sites.

WooCommerce 9.9: It’s Fast, Period.

WooCommerce 9.9 is all about speed and smarter workflows.

Admin performance has seen a massive upgrade, pages like Orders now load up to 95% faster, even for stores with hundreds of thousands of entries.

The dashboard, filters, and product views now use caching and asynchronous loading, making day-to-day management feel much more nippy and responsive.

Beyond speed, 9.9 introduces a handful of time-saving features. “Blueprints” let you export and import WooCommerce settings, good for cloning setups across dev or staging environments.

You can now selectively export products or variations directly from the product list, and hide all paid shipping options when free shipping is available, without custom code.

As with all major releases I'd recommend holding off updating on a live store for a couple of weeks, but it is worth testing it on a separate staging site. See our update guide.

WCAG 3.0’s Proposed Scoring Model: A Shift In Accessibility Evaluation

WCAG 3.0 highlights a major shift from the binary pass/fail model of WCAG 2.x to a more nuanced, outcome-based scoring system.

Instead of focusing solely on compliance, WCAG 3.0 evaluates how effectively users with disabilities can complete tasks, using a flexible scoring approach that better reflects real user experience.

The guidelines are organized into high-level goals, testable outcomes, and methods. Outcomes are rated on a scale from Poor to Excellent, and critical errors that block access significantly impact scores.

The new conformance levels - Bronze, Silver, and Gold - replace A, AA, and AAA, with Bronze aligning roughly with WCAG 2.2 Level AA.

This is still in draft form but already presents a radical change over the existing accessibility testing methodology.

How Rodolfo Productized Revenue and Mastered WooCommerce Analytics with Metorik

Business Bloomer, founded by Rodolfo Melogli, began as a blog offering WooCommerce tips and evolved into a comprehensive educational platform with plugins, courses, and a community.

As it expanded, Rodolfo sought advanced analytics beyond what Google Analytics could provide, aiming for deeper insights into revenue, customer behavior, and product performance.

This need led him to Metorik, a tool that seamlessly integrates with WooCommerce, offering real-time data and comprehensive reporting.

The Engage feature became a pivotal asset, enabling Rodolfo to automate personalized email campaigns, recover abandoned carts, and nurture customer relationships, all within a single platform.

At CommerceGurus, we love Metorik (see our review here) and use it on a daily basis. Bryce has built a must-have tool for WooCommerce store owners.
