Hi there, hope you're having a great Friday!
This is Colm and Simon from CommerceGurus, with a handpicked weekly roundup of eCommerce articles.
We all know how important site speed is. Load times impact user experience, search engine visibility, and conversion rates, so it’s vital that you do all you can to improve your site's performance.
This is especially true if you’re running an eCommerce store, where slow loading times and poor user experience can negatively impact your business by decreasing conversion rates and sales.
WP Rocket is one of the most popular caching and performance plugins for WordPress.
In this WP Rocket review, we help you answer that question and determine if it’s worth the $59 investment.
However, if you’re in a hurry and just want to know if WP Rocket is any good, we found that it noticeably improved the performance of our test WooCommerce WordPress site and was very easy to use.

Google Streamlines Product Listings via Website Crawl
Google is making it easier for merchants to pull in product listings from their sites through automated “website crawl” feeds in the Merchant Center.
Google uses structured data markup on merchant websites to automatically extract up-to-date product information like titles, pricing, availability and images.
The automated feeds aim to reduce the work required to keep product listings current as assortment and pricing changes – a challenge with traditional feed file uploads.
By reducing manual feed labor, automated product ingestion could lower barriers for merchants to participate across Google’s growing array of surfaces like Search, Shopping, Images and more.

If you run an eCommerce store, you may be using helpdesk software to better manage conversations with your customers.
One of the most popular solutions is Help Scout, but the cost of this has risen considerably in recent years.
When Joost de Valk started looking for an open-source alternative, Freescout immediately turned out to be a very solid system that was also incredibly easy to install. Since it looks incredibly similar, the switch was easy.
There are a few benefits to self-hosting Freescout that might not be immediately obvious. Of course, there are economic advantages. There are also legal advantages: all the data is on your premises. No need to tell users that you’re using a third-party service for support interactions.
The cost savings are huge, particularly from year two - you can see this in more detail within the tables in the article.
