Hi there, hope you're having a great Friday!
This is Colm and Simon from CommerceGurus, with a handpicked weekly roundup of eCommerce articles.
We're back with a new blog post this week! Maria takes a look at the world of trust seals/badges and investigates how effective they are at boosting your conversion rate.
There's some really interesting findings here on just how effective DIY seals are which is really surprising.
We've also updated our trust badges to reflect some changes we've made to the trust badges provided with the Shoptimizer demo data.
If you've been using the image we previously provided with the demo data on a live store you'll want to update it either with your own proper trust badges or the new badge we provide in the update docs.

These days, several providers are offering their take on “managed” WordPress hosting. The definition of “managed” can vary by host, though.
They range from services that simply come with the app preinstalled to those with specific tweaks aimed at boosting performance. You may also find automated software maintenance, staging environments, or the ability to quickly restore backups.
Managed WooCommerce hosting offers an intriguing proposition for both DIY users and web designers. But what should we expect from these services? Will they be able to smooth over the pain points of working with Woo?
Eric Karkovack explores what managed hosting can and can’t do for WooCommerce.

Any website using Google Analytics will need to start planning to switch sooner rather than later as data will stop being sent to UA in 2023 and the product will be shut down soon after.
The migration will have a big impact on how performance data is measured because:
- no tracking can be transferred, instead new code must be implemented
- every report and dashboard using GA as a data source will need to be rebuilt
- GA4 will be a new interface with new ways of working
GOV.UK uses Real User Monitoring (RUM) to help understand how the site performs for users.
Using RUM data they were able to show that the performance impact of GTM was negligible so they can now proceed to use GTM to implement GA4 without an impact on users.

Matt Medeiros has recorded a very interesting video where he compares setting up a podcast site in Ghost compared to WordPress.
Ghost is a platform I've been aware of for a number of years. It's clear that despite its rather clean and beautiful UI, it is certainly a lot more limited in functionality compared to what you can do with WordPress.

Steph Eckles has launched 12 Days of Web, a year-end celebration of fundamental web technologies: HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
It features 12 articles about modern, fundamental web tech that lets you do cool stuff more easily.
The first article in the series is from the legendary Eric Meyer, and is about modern viewport units.
You're sure to learn something new about web technologies, and hopefully even be surprised about what the native web can offer.
