Hi there, hope you're having a great Friday!
This is Colm and Simon from CommerceGurus, with a handpicked weekly roundup of eCommerce articles.
The article from ConversionWise explains how social proof — signals that other people trust or use your products — plays a powerful role in online buying decisions.
Rather than convincing shoppers why your product is good, social proof shows them that others have already been convinced, which reduces hesitation and builds trust.
Examples of social proof include customer reviews and ratings, testimonials, user-generated photos and videos, influencer endorsements, trust badges and best-seller lists.
When used thoughtfully, these cues help reassure new visitors, highlight popularity and reliability, and improve conversions across product pages, carts, and checkouts.
Showing shoppers that others have had positive experiences can make them feel more confident about buying from your store.

In a recent post, Ian Misner breaks down why WooCommerce checkouts often feel slow - and why that’s such a problem for conversions.
When the checkout page drags or feels unresponsive, shoppers are far more likely to abandon their cart, even if they were ready to buy just moments earlier.
He explains that the slowdown usually isn’t caused by WooCommerce itself, but by everything layered on top of it: heavy themes, too many plugins loading scripts at checkout, third-party tracking tools, and hosting setups that just aren’t tuned for eCommerce.
By trimming what loads on the checkout page, being more selective with plugins, and using hosting and caching designed for WooCommerce, stores can dramatically improve conversions.

WooCommerce is alerting online sellers that several European countries changed their VAT rules in January 2026.
Some countries are increasing VAT on certain goods and services, such as Lithuania and the Netherlands whereas Germany, Finland, and Austria are reducing it within certain categories of products.
WooCommerce recommends merchants verify these changes and update their tax settings, ideally using plugins that automate local tax rate updates so your store always charges correct VAT.

In this video from Rino de Boer he explains how Elementor v4 is shaping up to be the biggest update since the builder launched.
Instead of traditional, all-in-one widgets, v4 introduces a more modular system built around small “atomic” elements that can be combined into reusable components.
It also brings long-awaited features like true global variables (for colors, fonts, spacing), reusable classes for consistent styling, improved responsive controls, unlimited background layers, advanced hover/focus states, and better code quality for performance.
The overall shift moves Elementor toward a more professional, scalable workflow similar to modern design tools like Figma.
Importantly, v3 and v4 will coexist, meaning existing sites won’t break. Users can gradually adopt the new system, replacing old widgets over time rather than rebuilding everything at once.
