If you want to customize how your WooCommerce store looks and/or functions, understanding WooCommerce hooks is going to make your life a whole lot easier.
Hooks make it easy to insert content or change behavior at specific parts on your store, like the checkout page, shopping cart page, etc. What’s so great about WooCommerce hooks is that they let you do this without needing to edit any of the underlying theme template files.
We have 2 exclusive videos included also so you can follow along step-by-step.
Dive into our tutorial with some great examples
We've updated our popular tutorial on WooCommerce shortcodes with some useful additional examples including how to incorporate categories into regular pages.
WooCommerce shortcodes are small code snippets which you can place anywhere in your site to display WooCommerce products or calls to action such as ‘Buy Now’ buttons. There are a multitude of uses for these and we wanted to incorporate some great examples in this guide.

Joost de Valk, of Yoast SEO fame, has written an interesting post analyzing the current state of the CMS sphere, including numbers on WooCommerce and Shopify.
He finds that WordPress is the #1 CMS with a 35.0% market share, 2.8% higher than November 2018 and that outside of WordPress, all other free opensource CMSs are declining.

I came across a nice free icon set this week from Germany. Designed by H2D2, a Berlin-based studio focused on designing for eCommerce shops, there are 60 icons to choose from. There are a number of weights including a light (thin) version which looks sleek and modern. Licensed under the Apache 2.0 license they're a useful additional to anyone's toolbox who are designing or developing eCommerce stores.

Everyone has an opinion on WordPress—even those who don’t even use it. That’s understandable, given that it powers more than a third of all websites. But what do WordPressers think of the most popular publishing platform in 2019?
There are some interesting findings in this, including the overall opinion of Gutenberg so far and what they like (and hate) most about WordPress.

Latest Shoptimizer updates
If you've been using our Shoptimizer WooCommerce theme, we pushed a couple of nice updates this week in version 1.9.3.
The big one is a new header layout which many folks have looked for. It's a one row header with the logo, menu, search, and cart displayed on one line.
It's a good option if you don't have many menu items and don't need a full width bar.
You can see an example of it in action here (desktop only).
We've also added another often-requested feature - the ability to display single product thumbnails vertically next to the main image.
See everything on the theme's changelog page.
That's it for this edition. Simply reply to this email if you have any questions or suggestions, we read every message. Have a great week and best of luck with your projects!
