Hi there, hope you're having a great Friday!
This is Colm and Simon from CommerceGurus, with a handpicked weekly roundup of eCommerce articles.
Suzanne Scacca has been writing some really good articles on the topic of eCommerce lately for Smashing Magazine and this is another one.
I enjoy posts like this which use real-world UI patterns from well-known eCommerce sites and explain why they're effective.
Personally, I may not agree with every example but it's food for thought for anyone designing and maintaining stores.

Brian Dean has published a whopper of a guide to landing pages, which includes some great eCommerce examples. It covers:
- How to create super high-converting landing pages
- In-depth breakdowns of the world's best landing pages
- Get access to detailed landing page templates
Well designed landing pages tend to be excellent for conversions as they focus on a single CTA (call to action) and are targeted towards a specific group.
There's lots to learn in this article for anyone selling online.

Colm came across an interesting site this week called Below the Fold. It's a site on which hundreds of entrepreneurs share the stories behind their online businesses. This includes people from every level sharing their stories and growth tips.
You can read interviews from startups, SMB's and Enterprise level businesses to learn how to make your own business a success, and even contribute an interview yourself.
I enjoyed the interview with Canadian artist Vanessa Gilbert, who describes her successes (and struggles) with eCommerce.

Website performance is a topic we keep talking about at CommerceGurus and this video course piqued by interest.
It's by Umar Hansa, a web developer based in London who is also a Google Developer Expert.
The series includes videos of audits carried out on real websites where Umar analyzed performance bottlenecks and undertakes speed improvements.
For anyone interested in web performance and interested in providing these kinds of speed audit services to clients it looks like an excellent course to consider purchasing.
There are 3 lessons available for free.

I've previously mentioned how much I like Heroicons, a free svg icon set which we're now using in Shoptimizer.
I feel Mono icons would complement them perfectly as they're very similar in terms of style.
MIT licensed so you can include them in any commercial projects, these are a nice choice for icons which look smart and highly readable.

In the next few weeks we'll be working on some additional PDP (Product Details Page) sales triggers for our CommerceKit plugin. Also, we're making progress on converting all javascript in Shoptimizer from jQuery to vanilla JS which should produce a nice performance bump, so look out for that!
That's it for this edition. Simply reply to this email if you have any questions or suggestions, we read every message. Have a great week and best of luck with your projects!
