CLS in WooCommerce: Making it “0” (Core Web Vitals)

Our last blog post of 2025 delves into Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS) - the Core Web Vitals metric that measures how much page content moves unexpectedly during load, and it’s a common problem on WooCommerce sites.

These layout shifts hurt user experience, reduce trust, negatively impact conversions, and can affect SEO rankings.

Joe highlights that CLS issues usually come from things like images without fixed dimensions, lazy-loaded elements above the fold, dynamically injected content such as banners or notices, web font loading, and third-party scripts.

By properly reserving space for elements, defining image sizes, handling fonts correctly, and controlling dynamic content, WooCommerce stores can reduce CLS to near zero and create a smoother, more professional shopping experience.

Chamberlain Coffee's Strategy for a High Converting Landing Page

Chamberlain Coffee built a dedicated marketing landing page for one of its product bundles (in this case, a matcha bundle) that deliberately mirrors elements of a PDP but strips away distractions.

They feature the product hero module, ingredient list, social proof and reviews, user-generated content and a single prominent call-to-action with the navigation and other site links removed or minimised.

The landing page is deliberately constructed to tap into social proof and community cues: for example, headlines like “This Matcha Sold Out 5 Times” signal popularity and FOMO.

Cross-sells and related product suggestions are built into the flow, reinforcing bundling and higher order value rather than just a single-item sale.

A strong takeaway is how the brand blends product detail logic (ingredients, functionality, benefits, reviews) with marketing landing page logic (storytelling, social proof, funnel-purposed design) to create a page that feels like “somebody made this specifically for you” rather than a generic catalog page.

Europe is Scaling Back its Landmark Privacy and AI Laws

The EU is proposing major updates to both the EU AI Act and GDPR, aiming to reduce red tape and make it easier for companies to innovate with AI.

The reforms would loosen some rules around using personal and pseudonymised data to train AI systems and simplify cookie-consent interactions to cut down on constant pop-ups.

Supporters say this modernization will help European businesses stay competitive, but digital-rights groups argue it risks weakening the strong privacy protections the EU is known for.

For eCommerce sites, these changes could have a meaningful impact: more flexible data-use rules may make it easier to personalise shopping experiences and improve on-site search while streamlined cookie-consent flows could reduce friction.

Stellar: A/B Split Test Any Website

Stellar is a lightweight A/B-testing platform built to work across WordPress sites. The script is only about 5.4 KB, so it keeps page-load impact minimal - important when Core Web Vitals and user experience matter. On its website, Stellar lists WordPress compatibility and promotes itself as “works where you work.”

A compelling part is its collection of ready-to-go A/B test ideas: you can test different headline copy on a landing page, compare a video vs. image content, tweak CTA button placement, or add testimonials or social proof to a pricing page.

Because many site-owners were left without an easy A/B-testing tool after Google Optimize was discontinued, Stellar comes at a useful time - offering a no-code visual editor, integration with analytics (like GA4), and flexibility across themes and builders.

They have a Free plan and their Pro plan is only $99 per year which appears pretty reasonable.
