Hi there, hope you're having a great Friday!
This is Colm and Simon from CommerceGurus, with a handpicked weekly roundup of eCommerce articles.
In the latest WooCommerce 10.3 release, the Cost of Goods Sold (COGS) feature has been moved into core.
This means store owners can now record the actual cost for each product and use that data within orders and across their reports.
That enables tracking of profit margin per product and per order directly in core, rather than relying on third-party plugins or manual spreadsheets.
Beyond COGS, version 10.3 introduces several significant improvements: address autocomplete is now built into the Checkout (both blocks and shortcode) when paired with a suitable address-provider. This helps reduce friction on the checkout.
PayPal integration has been upgraded: it now uses PayPal’s Orders v2 API, and adds Express Checkout buttons (PayPal, Venmo, Pay Later) where supported, giving a smoother payment flow.

The WooCommerce team highlights a number of performance enhancements in their 2025 roadmap designed to help Woo stores scale more smoothly.
They’ve improved session handling and caching, leaner database queries, and asynchronous data loading, claiming up to a 95 % reduction in critical page load time in test scenarios.
Changes include removing “no-cache” headers from cart pages, enabling payment providers to use cached data (boosting checkout speed), and introducing smarter rendering for cart and checkout blocks to reduce layout shifts.
Learn About Improving WooCommerce Performance at Scale
Research summarized by Science Says shows that adding a small amount of “friction” to discount redemptions - such as asking customers to enter a promo code or complete a short, trivial task can significantly increase sales.
Across eight experiments involving more than 100,000 participants, requiring minimal effort to claim a discount boosted conversion rates by up to 59% and increased purchase intent by as much as 154%.
The effect works because people feel they’ve earned the discount, making them more motivated to complete a purchase.
However, the boost fades when the task becomes too time-consuming or the discount is already very large, as the effort no longer feels meaningful or necessary.

The Accelerate plugin brings conversion rate optimization tools- like A/B testing and personalization directly into the WordPress Block Editor, without relying on external SaaS tools.
You can run tests on individual blocks (headlines, buttons, images), show different content to distinct audiences, and get analytics about how users interact with each block.
It also provides “Broadcast Blocks” to push announcements or offers across the site, and a marketer-friendly dashboard to manage content performance.
Currently in beta, Accelerate requires registering a free account, and all analytics data is stored in the EU with GDPR compliance.
It has also recently added AI-powered enhancements, such as AI blocks that generate or assist with content, and title variant suggestions for A/B testing.
