Hi there, hope you're having a great Friday!
This is Colm and Simon from CommerceGurus, with a handpicked weekly roundup of eCommerce articles.
The words "This item is out of stock" are enough to turn a pleasant shopping experience into a panicked and frustrating one.
But the worst thing you could do is to remove out-of-stock product pages. You don’t want shoppers running into a 404 page and experiencing not just panic but also confusion and frustration.
There are better ways to handle this scenario and this article goes through some great examples of what store owners should do.
This was in my thoughts when developing our Waitlist module in CommerceKit. This automatically displays an email field when an item goes out of stock.
And now in version 1.1.5, our plugin can automatically contact those interested customers to let them know that the item is back in stock and available to purchase.

WP Rocket has a nice article on the importance of upselling and cross selling additional products in orders to increase your average order value.
It doesn't cover the standard WooCommerce options for these but instead looks at some separate plugins which are a bit more powerful, including Smart Coupons.
Remember in our Shoptimizer theme we now include Order Bumps as part of CommerceKit which is a great way to upsell right on the checkout page.
The product can be added to the cart with one-click, no refresh needed and it's a great way to offer an additional item right before the order is confirmed.

This is an excellent article from Beka Rice over at Jilt about the importance of confirmation emails.
64% of customers consider transactional emails (like shipping confirmations) the most valuable messages they receive.
Transaction emails, like shipping and order confirmations, achieve significantly higher open and click rates than promotional emails.
Transactional emails see almost five times the open rate of broadcast emails, almost 17 times the click-through rate, and almost 17 times the revenue.
The article goes through helpful tips on how to structure these emails and how to use them to drive extra revenue.

Lately, when asked about SEO plugin recommendations I've been suggesting Rank Math more and more.
They've steadily moved ahead of Yoast feature-wise, and have WooCommerce options available in their free plugin which you have to pay for if you use Yoast.
Saying that, I was intriged by Yoast's post this week and they have incorporated keyword research from SEMrush in their latest update, in both their free and premium versions.
This powerful addition helps you find related keyphrases for your focus keyphrase using SEMrush's database.
You can use the feature with a free SEMrush account, but you’ll be limited in the amount of requests you can make a day.

I enjoyed this post by Randall Kanna about how she made over $30k from writing an eBook. The tips she shares are relevant for anyone selling online and show the huge potential market if you can garner an audience who are invested in you.
The post goes through the positive things she did, as well as some mistakes and it's well worth a read.
