Baymard has updated their cart abandonment statistics for 2023, and it stands at a shocking 70%.
The Top 3 reasons on the list:
- Extra costs too high (shipping, tax, fees)
- The site wanted me to create an account
- Delivery was too slow
Unlike the “just browsing” segment, a lot of these issues can be resolved. In fact, many of them can be fixed purely through design changes.
The average large-sized eCommerce site can gain a 35.26% increase in conversion rate though better checkout design.

AfterShip has created a list of the top 100 WooCommerce Stores in 2024, based upon revenue.
I think the revenue estimates should be taken with a large pinch of salt, I don't think they are very accurate.
But, this is still a very useful collection of WooCommerce powered stores with a significant audience and income.
When discussing the merits with clients of WooCommerce over the likes of Shopify, being able to highlight large stores like these can be a persuasive way to promote Woo as a platform.

For The Verge, Mia Sato writes about Google’s power over the internet — and how Google Search has shaped the way we do so many things, including finding information, writing and creating, building businesses, and making websites.
The feature, sleekly animated by Richard Parry, also takes us through the process of creating a hypothetical website about pet lizards; the result is a visual journey showing just how much “the internet has been remade in Google’s image,” writes Sato. “And it’s humans—not machines—who have to deal with the consequences.”
While this may not be anything new to industry experts and people who know the SEO game, it’s an accessible read about Google’s homogenizing force on the web for a more general audience.

Colm discovered a fascinating video from Spencer Haws, of Niche Pursuits.
In 2023, he decided to go big and set a goal to publish 1,000 blog posts. He ended up crushing that goal with 1,325 articles published on NichePursuits.com.
With 3.3 million pageviews in 2022, this leaped to 8.3 million in 2023 as a result of this explosion of new content, almost all of it organic, coming from Google.
This content ended up costing him $240,000 but from one revenue source alone (display ads) he recovered nearly all of this outlay.
